With the generous support of David Rubenstein, the Library of Congress has asked Massachusetts Center for the Book (MCB) to administer a state literacy award program.
Our commonwealth awards program will annually recognize literacy projects that deliver impact through partnership with the Massachusetts library community. To that end, it will solicit annual nominations for this award from libraries in Massachusetts. The Board of Directors will name an award winner, and the award will be accompanied by a check for $1,000 to support the work of the literacy project.
The First Annual Award goes to Literacy Volunteers of the Montachusett Area, whose director is Gloria Maybury. The nominating libraries were Fitchburg, Gardner, and Leominster, jointly. Congratulations to Literacy Volunteers of the Montachusett Area!
